Crumbs Macaron x LuxBite

This post was first posted at Crumbs x LuxBite on Deliciouslogy | Wordpress.

I've had one too many distractions these days and even though I have lots and lots of photos and thoughts to share, I have terrible time management.

But! I am bringing you a special post because a very nice person gave me 2 boxes of macarons and I literally melted, ooh-ed and ahh-ed as I ate the very first one.

Disclaimer: Photo quality may vary from photo to photo because I got too excited and wanted to eat the macarons straight away so some photos were taken using my phone.

I received a lovely email lately from Crumbs asking if I was interested in trying some new macarons. I replied with a definite 'Yes!' and I found myself standing in front of a really cute stand in 1 Utama.

The stand is situated in front of Isetan, Level 1 at the Old Wing. I had no idea how to get there but thankfully, there was the boyfie who was a 1 Utama expert haha...

A short intro on what they do and why they do it

And the flavors available for sale.

Tada~ I shamelessly asked for a bag and the promoter gave it to me. Only later on I realized that they were actually for sale. So sorry! I will compensate with buying more macarons next week!

Close ups of the lovely boxes and macarons. They looked so delicious. I swear I was really itching to try them.

Since this is the first time I'm trying LuxBite's macarons, I'll introduce theirs first.

This is a watermelon and guava flavor. The watermelon flavor is mild and the buttercream was light. Look at the amount of filling in it! ♥

And... the inside has a hidden treasure. There's a piece of guava jelly on the inside. Surprise! The minute you bite onto the jelly piece, the combination becomes very interesting. The sweet, fragrant guava flavor against the mild watermelon was a very nice match! I was quite surprised myself.

Next was the Peanut Butter and Jelly flavor. Firstly, I am a peanut butter lover. I love it in cakes, between sandwiches, even in my banana smoothie. And this was absolutely divine! (Hey, I've never used the word 'divine' in my blog before!)

There's also a hidden surprise in this. Those little bits of red is the 'jelly' part of the 'Peanut Butter and Jelly' and it is of course a perfect match. The peanut butter was smooth and a little salty while the jelly was sweet. It was good, good, good!

I waited till the next day before I had a Crumbs macaron. They're so pretty, how on earth can you eat them? T-T

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING IMAGES MAY BE DISTURBING TO SOME. A CUTE TEDDY BEAR IS ABOUT TO BE DEVOURED RATHER... SAVAGELY.

The filling! It's all in the filling! First you see a layer of bittersweet chocolate ganache ♥

RAWR ATTACK!!!!

And then you reach the awesome hazelnut praline part ♥ It's was an adorable bear-shaped nutella macaron. *sighs happily~*

Okay. Back to LuxBite.

This is a Ribena Lemonade macaron. Ribena is a blackcurrent cordial drink that we all remember as kids. It was awful with warm water but awesome with cold water but as kids, we weren't allowed to drink much cold water so we made do with warm water. /firstworldproblems. But anyways... this Ribena flavored one brought back memories of my childhood at the first bite.

A very strong burst of Ribena flavor fills your mouth at the first bite then the lemon flavors come in afterwards. Hey, there's a Ribena Lemon flavored drink out there now, right? This is exactly like that just that this is a macaron and there's that lovely rich buttercream to go with it.

Last but not least, is the Mandarin Jaffa. I tried searching for what 'Jaffa' meant but I only found the city of Jaffa. Then later on, I found the 'Jaffa Orange'. Aha, that should be it. According to Wikipedia, they're actually seedless oranges produced in Jaffa. This orange flavored macaron was very much a mandarin orange flavor. Very fresh.

And the filling was like an orange concentrate filling instead of buttercream which went quite well with the macaron. Strong orange flavor nyam.

I had not had macarons for easily 6 months before this post which explains the immense amount of spazzing and excitement.

This round of macarons was very interesting to me as I rarely have 'perfect' macarons and LuxBite has given me some hope that there are still macaron bakers out there who actually know what their doing. No molds, no premixes. Lotsa piping and TLC. That's how macarons should be.

And you know where to get them now, right? :)

The Crumbs x LuxBite promotion will be available throughout December so get them while you can. Yes, they are a tad bit pricey but consider the fact that those lovely macarons were specially air-flown in from Melbourne! And how else would you be able to taste macarons from Melbourne (unless you actually have them in Melbourne).

So do give them a try, I assure you, you won't regret it =)
