Had the intention to go to a popular instant noodle place in SS15 but Beef Bowl caught our attention instead as we were twirled around looking for a parking slot, curse the one way SS15 roads! I'm generally not familiar with Subang so I did a quick check on the origins of Beef Bowl only to discover that they were a very established food stall previously located at Foh Foh restaurant.
As it was raining, the shop was quiet and there was only one customer before us but as the night progressed, more people started coming in and eventually most of the tables were taken up.
Beef Bowl serves Thai style beef noodles with an almost clear broth and a little sprinkle of chili powder, fried garlic and is usually topped with coriander. Service was very warm on this particularly cold day and coupled with this warm satisfying bowl of noodles, it was absolutely delightful.
Beef soup noodles happens to be my favourite way to have beef and this one really hits the spot. Each bowl is topped with a lot of meat and at the end, there's always meat left over. The beef balls were springy and the soup hearty, flavorful and very beefy with a hint of fried garlic. The kuey teow used was of the thin variety, the best kind for soup noodles.
Although my order was for mixed beef and beef ball noodles, most of the meat was beef brisket. It was cooked really well - tender and melts in your mouth. Ezel had a medium rare sliced beef and beef ball and it was very good as well.
For sides, we ordered radish and a chicken thigh. The chicken thigh turned out really good. The soup it came in was very flavorful and had a strong chicken flavour. The radish came in beef soup and it was cooked really well and had soaked up all the beef flavor from the soup.
Best eaten on any day, I would gladly brave the rain and the traffic that comes with it to be rewarded at the end with this lovely bowl of beef noodle soup.
