Zui Le Xuan 聚乐轩点心楼 Dim Sum ~ Ipoh

After not wanting to go through the trouble for the most famous dim sum in Ipoh and seeing Ipoh MotorMouth 's recommendation, Zui Le Xuan 聚乐轩点心楼 was decided upon for a Ipoh dimsum fix and unsurprisingly, no regrets!

We tried some Zui Le Xuan specialties namely the black garlic siew mai with its streaks of incredibly smokey black garlic interlacing pork mince and a very tasty fried fish cake shaped like a kaya puff with a little surprise of whole prawns in the center.

Everything else ordered was also good. The char siew here is not too sweet and has fresh gingery notes with the same char siew filling being used in the pau and the char siew sou. The char siew sou had a sweet, flakey, buttery pastry. Very nice.

Other notable items are the har gau for its fresh, bouncy prawns and the ma lai ko laced with a corn custard. The sponge cake was not dry as a result though the corn bits were hard in between. Otherwise, it was perfect.

Service is excellent. Servers are very quick to clear plates and patient to explain what is what. Perhaps it was also because it was a late Friday morning so they weren't swamped.
