It's been a hectic month of work but it has also brought me to interesting eating places, one in particular is Woon Kiang kuey teow kia in Johor.
Touted as one of the best kuey teow kia in JB, being open from 5pm till 2am also puts them on the map for night owls in search of supper or tired event organizers who had just wrapped up for the day.
The kuey teow is silky smooth in a hearty herbal soup, comforting after a long day. The meats were cooked just right, soft enough but not overcooked. My favorite was the braised duck, I was impressed with how flavorful it was as well as the lovely texture. Also available was pork belly and leaner pork slices.
There was a good variety of innards including the rarer braised pork skin. I don't eat any but the table's feedback was good. The braised eggs, tofu and the mui choy were good accompaniments as well. I separately ordered a takeaway of beancurd and that was good too!
Worth a try when you're in Johor. I'd have it again the next time I'm in the area.
