Been craving for Malay food and got wind of Restoran Sambal Hijau, famous for their extensive variety of lauk and for having celebrities dining in.
Their choices of lauk is indeed extensive with dishes cooked ala gulai, sambal merah and hijau, stir fries, bakar, ulam, sup and a range of housemade sambals. Memang mata rambang when deciding on what goes on your plate.
Prices are clearly stated on each tray which makes deciding a little bit easier but overall, everything looks good and tastes just as good.
My plate of tenggiri sambal hijau, tempeh sambal and gulai daging bakar on the side was more than what I could finish but I kept wanting to continue eating! The tenggiri was well fried and that sambal hijau kick really hit the spot. The tempeh was rather average but the gulai daging bakar surprised me as the gulai kuah had smokey notes with tender-ish and tasty daging.
On makan partner's plate are too many items to name but the terung sambal, kangkung goreng, ayam bakar, ayam sambal were all delicious. The chicken, tender and the vegetables, tasty. The telur dadar ayam was interesting but the minced chicken a little dry.
Overall a very satisfying meal and warrants a revisit over and over again till you find your go-to lauk. Another plus point would be the free onsite parking.
